Built on Land, Raised with Heart
Why We Started
It started with a single dog and a working farm. We needed a partner — something smart enough to move livestock, loyal enough to guard the property, and gentle enough to grow up alongside our kids. What we found was that the right dog, raised the right way, could do all of that and more.
American Farm Dogs grew out of that discovery. We began breeding deliberately — pairing dogs for temperament, drive, and health — and placing pups with families and working operations who needed the same thing we did: a dog that could truly do it all.
Today, our program focuses on Australian Shepherds and Great Bernese — two breeds we've found to be exceptional across the board. Whether you're looking for a farm dog, a family companion, or a service dog in training, our pups are raised from day one to be ready for the job.

Our pups are born in our home and raised on our working farm. They know livestock, children, and the rhythms of rural life before they ever leave us.
Health First
Every breeding dog is fully health tested — OFA hips and elbows, CERF eyes, MDR1 gene screening. We share all results openly.

Intelligent, driven, and deeply loyal — the Aussie is one of the most versatile working breeds in existence. Ours are bred for temperament first, producing dogs that excel as companions, farm dogs, and service dogs in training.

Great Bernese
A cross between the Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain Dog, the Great Bernese combines the guardian instinct of the Pyrenees with the calm, affectionate nature of the Bernese. The result is a gentle giant with a heart as big as they are.
